Welcome to NEIAIS-2025
The "North East India AI Summit: Unravelling Trends (NEIAIS-2025)" is an International Conference aimed at fostering collaboration, innovation, and knowledge-sharing in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Organized by the Department of Computer Science at Manipur University with the financial support of the North Eastern Council (NEC), the summit will take place from February 10–12, 2025, in a hybrid mode.
NEIAIS 2025 will offer a platform to researchers, scholars, industrial professionals, and students to delve into the latest trends in AI, IoT, and their wide-ranging applications. The conference will focus on the integration of these technologies into various sectors, including healthcare, smart cities, autonomous systems, and education, reflecting the growing influence of AI on contemporary society.
In the era of modern communication and Internet systems, people rely
on the Internet for their day-to-day life activities in office, educational institute, business,
marketing and others. Moreover, we know that data generated from our daily life activity is also playing a major role in our lifestyle.
Every day we generate a huge amount of data which may be our personal data or organizational data.
The size of data is tremendously increasing with the increase size of network or Internet, increased number of users in the Internet or
due to the wide application areas of modern Internet. In addition, the Gov. of India initiated the Digital India movement and under
the umbrella of Digital India, many profit and non-profit organizations started real-life projects in various areas
such as Agriculture, Healthcare, Transportation, Smart Cities, Power Grid and many others. The fundamental technologies
used in most of the applications areas are Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Federated Learning, Internet-of-Things, Blockchain,
AI and Software Defined Networking.
The main purpose of the proposed conference, entitled “North East India AI Summit: Unravelling Trends,” is for students, scholars,
academicians, and faculty members in the NE region to familiar with the state-of-the-art techniques of AI and their applications to diverse fields.
The application of AI and ML is very common in Industries, Smart Cities, Agriculture, Power Grid, Energy, and Education.
People like to use AI-based tools and systems for their day-to-day activities. Therefore, AI-based tools and systems are integrated to
the Internet of Things (IoT) networks also. As IoT network connects billions of smart objects known as Things to the Internet and
communication among themselves or to the global network during data sharing, so it generates a huge amount of data in every second.
Data generated from the IoT network can be transmitted to the cloud or the edge network through the IoT-enabled 5G network. Earlier people
used Wi-Fi or 3G/4G network for transmission of data generated by IoT network. Since the IoT network connects billions of objects, so 5G network enhance the speed of data transmission and scalability of the network. Another major concern of IoT network is data privacy and security. The 5G-enalbled network can handle the IoT network security as well as data security also. In this regards, we are pleased to highlight that the Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipur University, has established a state-of-the-art 5G-enabled IoT network lab, generously funded by the North Eastern Council (NEC). The 5G lab will be available for hands-on training sessions during the upcoming event's pre-conference workshop.
The AI/ ML not only plays major role in decision making, future prediction and real-time recommendation but it can also enhance privacy and
security to the IoT network. Therefore, we should have depth knowledge on ML techniques that are quite useful for IoT data analysis, data privacy, and security.
The proposed conference would help us to fulfil the objectives and goals of the AI in the north-eastern region.

About Computer Science Department
The Department of Computer Science, Manipur University was started in 1984-85 as a Computer Centre by the then Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. J. Mahale while the University was a State University established on 5th June, 1980 as a teaching-cum-affiliating University under the Manipur University Act, 1980. In order to meet the manpower requirements of the country in various sectors, with the recommendations of the UGC Committee for 'Development of the Computer facilities', the UGC/DOE had initiated the course of Post Graduate Diploma programme in Computer Science and Applications. In the process of the development of this initiative, the Computer Centre at Manipur University was established and with the approval of the University Grants Commission one year Post Graduate Diploma programme in Computer Science and Application was started with effect from the academic year 1985'-86 with intake of 30 students with minimum qualification of (I0+2)+3. The students were selected on the basis of an entrance test with the opening of at least 1/3 rd to students from outside the state on an all India basis. Accordingly, a number of students pursuing Post Graduate Diploma Programme were from outside the state. After conducting the Post Graduate Diploma Course/Programme for three (3) academic sessions starting from 1985-86 to I987- 88, the department has been approved by the Department of Electronics, Govt. of India and UGC for starting the P.G Course of 3 year duration leading to the award of degree of Master of Computer Applications (MCA) with an intake of 30 students w.e.f. the academic year of 1988-89. The required financial assistance of non-recurring and recurring natures for the starting of MCA Course was provided by the Department of Electronics, Govt. of India and University Grants Commission, respectively. The Department continuously offered the three year Master of Computer Applications (MCA) course till 2022-2023 sessions, and as per the AICTE regulation 2021, the three year MCA course is converted to 2 Year course with an intake capacity 65. The department also offers Ph.D. Programme in Computer Science since 2015. The main Vision and Mission of the department are:
-
Vision:
To promote computer science education and perform state-of-the-art research.
-
Mission:
Develop theoretical as well as practical knowledge of computer science. Promote skill-oriented courses among students. Creating job opportunities for students after completing the course.
